I completed my medical degree and specialist psychiatric training through the University of Cape Town and am a Fellow of the College of Psychiatrists of South Africa. My training included work across public sector hospitals and academic settings, with experience in general adult psychiatry, child and adolescent mental health, and outpatient care.
I have worked in multidisciplinary and academic environments, including University of Cape Town Student Wellness Services. This has given me insight into the mental health needs of students and young adults during periods of transition, academic pressure and identity development.
As a woman practising psychiatry in South Africa, I am mindful of how culture, context and lived experience shape mental health and access to care. I aim to provide care that is respectful, inclusive and professional, and that allows people to engage at their own pace.
